MBV COFFEE & LATEST NEWS

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

All announcements by Lifestyle Director Julie Rychener unless otherwise indicated.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:  Julie asked everyone to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS by Alan Clark (condensed)

The Pool Furniture is scheduled to be replaced this year. The Board has appointed an ad hoc committee of people who use the pool to study and recommend the best way to renew / repair or replace the furniture.

The Superstition Floor was scheduled to be replaced the week of July 6, but it will start tomorrow instead.

●  Knuckle Curve:  We submitted a very rough proposed plan to the County for the knuckle curve at the end of MountainBrook Drive, and the County has come back with a list of requirements including a permit to be requested. We are trying to solicit some help from the County Supervisor to get us through this process. We are continuing to work toward the final determination that the road will never be extended through to Don Donnelley.

The Pool Decking: becomes very hot. Presidential Pools has confirmed that what we have is "state of the art" and there is nothing better on the market. Signage will be put in place to inform pool users to wear the proper kind of footwear for our environment.

Gym Equipment:  In 2008, our total repair bill for gym equipment was $3800.00, and so far this year we have already spent that much for repairs. Lots of communities in the area charge $600.00 to $1000.00 a year for use of the gym, but MountainBrook Village is not going to do that.

Shadowridge II Streets  will be repaired starting tomorrow.

Delinquencies  are discussed at the closed Borad of Directors meetings, and there are some outstanding monies that are due to the community. The delinquent members' fobs will be turned off and collection will be vigorously pursued to keep the community operating.

Model Airplanes: Someone has been flying model airplanes inside the Superstition building on Sunday mornings. Al would like to talk to the people if anyone knows who they are. We have expensive eqiipment in the room, and they need to explain what is is they are doing and why. If there is a valid reason and it can be done safely, they need to talk to the Board, but in the meantime the activity must stop.

There are some people living in this community who think this is Club Med.  It is not a resort, it is our home, the place where we have our money invested, and we all own a little bit of it. If we realize that, we will take care of it, because if it breaks, it has to be fixed.

NEW RESIDENTS:    Marla from Wyoming. Marla is a tennis player.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Gold Canyon and Apache Junction Food Bank are both in dire need of non-perishable food items. Drop the items off at the office and someone will see that they get to the food bank.

Cis Haines, from the Mountaineer Staff is looking for memorabilia for a DVD to be made for the 20th Anniversary Celebration on October 20, 2009. If you have old photos, brochures, floor plans, etc., please give Cis a call. Resident Len Broz will be making the DVD to share.

She heads up the Christmas decorations and is active on several committees, including Activity and Communications. She volunteers at the Activity office desk, and was also responsible for getting out the vote at the Town Hall meeting that approved the Superstition Building renovation. Joan says she loves what she does because she loves the people here.

There are a lot more volunteer opportunities as well as opportunities to join golf leagues, hikes, softball and more. Stop in the Activity Center and join in the fun with your friends and neighbors.
